In mid-March 2009, Mayfair Games will release this as the first game in its new Catan Geographies series. It is the English-language version of Die Siedler von Catan: Deutschland, which Kosmos released in October 2008. Catan Geographies: Germany uses the basic Catan game system of resource gathering, trading and building, but the action takes place in Germany rather than a fictional land.

Each player starts the game with town halls in three cities, then builds roads to reach neighboring cities in order to build unique German landmarks, which provide special awards in addition to victory points. Building additional town halls gives a player more chances for gaining resources and claiming Longest Road, Largest Army and special VP cards based on Germany’s history.
